Mark Kochenderfer,
M.D.
Background:
Medical Oncology, Hematology
Dr. Mark Kochenderfer joins Blue Ridge Cancer Care
from private practice in North Carolina. He is board
certified in Medical Oncology, Hematology and Internal
Medicine. Dr. Kochenderfer received his Doctor
of Medicine and his Bachelor of Arts at West Virginia
University. He completed his Internal Medicine
Residency as well as Hematology/Oncology Fellowship
at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North
Carolina. While at Wake Forest, he was honored
with serving as Chief Fellow from 2004 to 2005.
After completing fellowship
he served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine
at the Wake Forest University
Comprehensive Cancer Center for two years.
As an active participant in the medical community,
Dr. Kochenderfer holds
memberships with:
• American Society of Clinical Oncology
and
• American Society of Hematology
He has authored several publications including
Guide to Chemotherapy and
Staging of Cancers.
Dr. Kochenderfer comes from a scientific background.
His father was a scientist who researched forest
hydrology and acid rain. His brother is also an
oncologist and is currently researching leukemia
vaccines at
the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland.
He is married to Dr. Joann Kochenderfer, an endocrinologist.
