Suzan R. Merten, M.D.

Medical Oncology, Hematology
Dr. Suzan Merten attended the Universty of South
Carolina and obtained a BS in Biology/Chemistry
in 1983 and her Doctor of Medicine in 1988. Dr.
Merten completed her residency at The Medical College
of Virginia in Internal Medicine in 1991 and completed
her fellowship in Hematology and Oncology in 1994.
Dr. Merten holds a certificate in Internal Medicine
and Oncology.

Dr. Merten has contributed to various publications
with the latest being; Yanovick, S., Merten,
S., Nelms, P, and Grant, S: Characterization
of multi-drug resistant (MDR) human erythroleukemia
cell line (K562) exhibiting cross-resistance
to 1-B-D-arabinofuranosylcytosine (Ara-C). ASH
34th Annual Meeting, December 1992.
Dr. Merten and her husband, John, currently
reside in Roanoke Virginia with their four children.
She enjoys spending time with her husband and
children in her non-medical time.
