Man to Man
Man to Man is a support group sponsored by the American Cancer Society for prostate cancer patients. Man to Man is an educational support group that covers topics related to diagnosis, treatment and management of Prostate cancer. Spouses are welcome. Reach to Recovery
Reach to Recovery was started by the American Cancer Society for patients with breast cancer. Reach to Recovery provides one-on-one visitation for women who will have, or have had, a lumpectomy, mastectomy or reoccurrence. The volunteer visitor brings a “reach kit” and shares her experiences and offers support. For more information about this free service, call 1-888-ACS-6333 or visit www.cancer.org.

Cancer Survivors Network
Cancer Survivors Network was designed for survivors and caregivers. It provides an outlet to cope with challenges and emotions of living with cancer. For more information call 1-877-333-4673 or visit www.cancer.org.

Dietitian On-Call
Nutrition counseling can help cancer patient’s deal with weight loss or gain and eating difficulties.
It can also answer some of your nutrition related questions. Through the American Cancer Society’s Dietitian On-Call service, a registered dietitian will call you to provide suggestions for your individual needs. To request a free referral call, please call 1-888-227-6333.

Look Good…..Feel Better
The “Look Good…..Feel Better” program was designed for women undergoing cancer treatment. This is a free program, taught by cosmetologists that teach women with cancer, beauty techniques. In these sessions, trained volunteer cosmetologists will teach a variety of topics including how to cope with skin changes and hair loss using cosmetics and skin care products donated by the cosmetic industry. Women also learn ways to disguise hair loss by using wigs, scarves, and other accessories. “Look Good….Feel Better” is a free public service program for women cancer patients. Wigs and Accessories
In the Roanoke and New River Valley area, there are several shops that specialize in women’s cancer care. These shops help with wig selection and fit, headwear including scarves and hats, and mastectomy wear including forms and bras. Please see the attached list for the location nearest you.
